Week 14 Highlights

This week’s highlights are a bit late because of events that transpired during week 15 (See Week 15 Highlights on this very blog)

Our monthly Temple Missionary dinner took place this week at the home of Bro. and Sis. Fletcher, who we knew way back in the days when we lived in Huntington Beach. They came to Nauvoo on their 4th or 5th mission and loved it so much, they purchased a home a couple of miles from Nauvoo and moved here. It’s a beautiful location with a very large yard. There is a grove of trees in the front of their home, and more trees on each side of their yard. And even though they are up a ways from the Mississippi River, on the west, there is a beautiful view which you can see a little in a couple of the photos. It is easily big enough for the 70 or 80 people who were there. It’s quite a place and easy to see why they love living here. Our dinner was a potluck, then ice cream bars for dessert.

Bro. Ostler, Bro. Durrant and I were asked to be part of the entertainment this month, so we got together and choose a few songs that were somewhat familiar to all of us and practiced a few times on the one afternoon a week that we all off. In the photo, Bro. Ostler is on the left, I’m in the middle and Bro. Durrant is on the right. Following our sing-along, two of the Elders who play accordion performed a couple of patriotic songs, and for the final number (This Land is Your Land) the three of us joined in with them. I don’t think I’ve ever performed in a group that included a banjo and accordions. It was lots of fun and as usual, the food was great.

That’s about it for this week

All is well,

Mom & Dad / Granny & Grandpa
